My 3cm HORN antenna is 11,1cm deep (calculated gain +-18,5dBd) but real gain is about 15dB due to not so precise construction..
Some YO friend asked me about polarization.
For new 3cm OK/OM hams: PSE read good article about rainscatter at http://www.ok2kkw.com/rs1999_jkt.htm
BTW I have shack in plastic cupola with minimal attenuation. If you want to try 3cm RS QSO from your room, don't forget to open window because of BIG ATTENUATION by glass!

This is the view from near house QTF 0º . Now you know, why i can't work DL1SUN, SM7ECM via RS in JO62 etc :-))
Pretty
interesting map with marked precise range of the Rain Scatter-points in 8 &
12 000m ASL for OK1TEH's QTH in Prague. Note the yellow points which
are real scatter points used during my 3cm RS DX QSO abroad. Thank to map I
found that there are possibilities for 3cm RS QSO via SCP in central Poland
even with LY, UA2 and EW ;-) Just is a pity that map doesn't count with
trees and near houses. Map was used from http://www.heywhatsthat.com/main-0904.html |
